Clewiston, FL – Sugar Express, South Central Florida’s newest tourist attraction, has announced a full season of events with its historic steam locomotive, No. 148. Operating between November 2022 and June 2023, the variety of trips includes special holiday train events for Lake Placid, and Clewiston, Florida.
“Over the next few months, our guests will be able to enjoy any number of train rides during the Christmas, Easter, and the Clewiston Sugar Festival, as well as short trips and all-day excursions in and around the Lake Okeechobee region,” said Scott Ogle, Operations Manager for Sugar Express. “We’re pleased to host a combination of events that appeal to people of all ages and welcome them into our agricultural community.”
NOTIFY ME BOOK TICKETSIn addition to the railroad’s vintage dining car, Palmdale and open-air car Miami Locks, train excursions this year also will feature traditional coach seating in historic railcars. Additional dates and events are under consideration.

Friday, November 11th – Miami Locks Ice Cream Train
Departing Clewiston for Miami Locks, passengers will enjoy ice cream from local vendors and an hour-long train ride. Trains depart at 2:30 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:30 PM. Tickets are $15 plus tax for children three and older and $25 plus tax for adults. Ice cream is included.
Saturday, November 12th – Florida East Coast Railway Historical Society Rare Mileage Tour
For Florida train and history lovers, this special excursion will operate from Clewiston through South Bay, Belle Glade, Pahokee, and east towards Ft Pierce. Lunch and photo runbys are included. Tickets are $295.00 plus tax.
Sunday, November 13th – Moore Haven Meteor
Sugar Express will operate steam-powered train rides between Clewiston and Moore Haven. Trips are approximately 2 hours in length. Tickets are $48.00 for adults and $35.00 for children plus tax. Trains depart at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.
December 2nd, 4th, 16th, 17th, 18th – Clewiston Santa Train
Climb aboard the Santa Express for an hour-long holiday trip departing Clewiston! Santa Claus will visit each car en route on his way to the North Pole. Tickets are $50.00 plus tax. Trains depart at 12:00 PM, 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM, and 7:30 PM.
Saturday, December 3rd – Toys 4 Tots Sugar Express Santa Train
Operating between Moore Haven, Clewiston, Belle Glade, and Martin County, the Sugar Express Santa Train will deliver gifts to the Toys for Tots programs in Moore Haven, Clewiston, Belle Glade, and Martin County. At each of the four stops, children will be able to drop off a letter for Santa and see the jolly old elf himself.
