Farm to Table Train and Caladium Festival Flyer Passenger Train Excursions Announced for July

SOUTH CENTRAL FLORIDA – Following its festival debut in 2023, Sugar Express will headline the Caladium Festival in Lake Placid, Florida with hourly train rides on July 26th and 27th and operate a gourmet Farm to Table excursion train from Lake Placid to Clewiston, Florida on July 28th. Ticket sales begin May 1st at 6:00 PM at sugarexpress.com.

Known as the “Caladium Capital of the World,” Lake Placid celebrates the colorful blooming flowers and agricultural heritage of Highlands County and routinely welcomes 20,000 visitors a year. The Caladium Festival Flyer will depart Friday and Saturday at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM daily. Tickets are $30.00 per person plus tax. Children 3 and under who do not occupy a seat ride free. A portion of funds raised from the Caladium Flyer will support the Lake Placid Historical Society and Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce.

The Farm to Table Train will depart Lake Placid at 9:00 AM on Sunday, July 28th. Its offerings include a 4-hour roundtrip passenger excursion, photo runby at Liberty Point, a lunch of mouthwatering 16 oz. ribeye steak prepared on site by the Hendry County Cattlemen’s Association, and farm fresh sides, refreshments, and desserts served upon arrival at the John Boy Auditorium in Clewiston.

Sugar Express steam locomotive No. 148 will operate the southbound portion of the trip to Clewiston and South Central Florida Express diesel locomotives will return passengers to Lake Placid at approximately 4:30 PM.

Tickets are $198 plus tax per person or $775 plus tax for a first-class table of four guests.
