About Us

Sugar Express is a heritage railroad experience in South Central Florida, offering seasonal train rides, excursions, and special events that bring history to life along the region’s scenic sugarcane fields. Operating in Clewiston, Lake Placid, and Sebring, each journey is powered by historic steam locomotive No. 148 or U.S. Sugar Diesel Locomotives and a collection of vintage passenger cars—creating an authentic rail experience inspired by the golden age of American travel.

As an outreach, education, and tourism program of U.S. Sugar, Sugar Express connects guests to the rich agricultural heritage and communities of the Glades. From festive holiday rides and themed excursions to full-day adventures like the Lake Placid Limited, every trip is designed to offer a unique blend of history, storytelling, and unforgettable scenery.
